The latest U.S. census data show that Blacks make up 13.3 percent of the total population of the U.S. More than one million African Americans own businesses that bring in $100 billion in total annual sales.

Black leaders were encouraged in business development by the legendary Booker T. Washington, a renowned African American leader, who urged Blacks more than 100 years ago to strive to get ahead economically.

Before that, the media generally portrayed African Americans in stereotypically negative light. Of course, Blacks got a raw deal even after that. But times have now changed. Many African Americans occupy reputable and powerful positions in leading corporations, a sign of their increasing strength in business.

There are many online Black magazines that specifically target Black audiences and cover all the aspects of their lives. Because a large percentage of Black people have done wonders in their professional lives, most of these magazines cover the achievements and cater to African American Professionals and business owners in the Black community.

These online magazines feature articles on Black people who have overcome seemingly insurmountable racism-related obstacles to succeed in business. They also feature stories of job opportunities and other events. They credit the work of Black people, recognize their achievements, and give business tips for success.

Although online magazines target only a specific reader group, they are getting a wider response because of the quality and variety of their news. Whether you have an interest in lifestyle or are looking for financial tips, the African American publications cater to all the needs of the readers.

Every African American online business magazine aims to become the epicenter of information for Black people seeking business opportunities in corporate America. Their goal is to educate the community and promote growth opportunities, with a view to creating a more diversely engaged society.

These magazines celebrate the achievements of African Americans, honor them and bring them into the spotlight to enhance their everyday life. If you are looking for an exciting medium to educate and connect with thousands of African American professionals who belong to different backgrounds, then Black online business magazines are for you.

Getting New Equipment

By Regie Macalam

Once you have your business running, you will need to maintain its operations. And part of maintaining your business is buying new supplies and equipment for use. As such, a good part of your business management strategy must be allot in planning such purchases.

Just like any other part of business management, equipment acquisition isn’t as simple as just getting the thing off the shelf. There are many things that you need to consider before you even fill up that order form. However, you can take a few things in mid to to make your purchase worthwhile.

The very first thing that you need to think about is, of course, what to buy. Here, you should already have an idea of what you need. If not, you need to assess your current inventory first and determine what is lacking or what needs to be replaced. But don’t rush to get the item yet. You need to also think about the immediacy of the item. The rule here is that if you think that the business can still go on pretty much the same without any new equipment, then you might as well postpone them for later.

Also note that, while you might need a particular piece, it might not always be available. Thus, you will have to think of other options to replace the particular equipment. It would be a good idea to think of alternatives before heading out to the store to avoid scratching your head when you find out that it’s not available.

Another important thing to consider is your budget. The idea of immediacy can also be applied here. If you don’t have the money to buy the equipment yet, it would be better if you don’t pursue it for now. However, there are times that you will be force to buy an item that is not within your current budget. What you can do then is to look out for the cheapest that you can find. Online store often have price comparators so that you can easily see the different prices and determine which one to get.

And then there’s the actual buying of the stuff. For smaller items, you can simply grab them at the stores. However, in the case of larger items and those that you need to import from abroad, you will be required to complete a series of documentation papers. In case of imports, you will also have to coordinate with customs officials in order to ensure that the delivery of your goods won’t hit a snag. Also be sure to contact the company that you bought the item from and the delivery company to ensure that your new equipment will arrive in good condition.

Once you already got the item, be sure to file and keep the purchase documents for auditing later. This is to be sure that you will be able to keep track of the expenses involved when you got the item. Also, contact the manufacturer or seller for further details on the product. And now that you have your new equipment, you can continue with your operations.

If you’re new in handling such business, you could go for coaching and mentoring services to improve your management skills and will help you run your business more effectively.
